The helix series of pots is based on a unique technique of developing shapes from 3D computer programs. The shapes are designed using sophisticated CAD programs that enable production of flat patters from which prototype models are constructed. The method is similar to that used for traditional origami models, but the complexity of the shapes means that they could never have been realize without the use of IT tools.
The complexity of the shapes is contrasted by the simplicity of the plaster moulds use to cast the ceramic pieces, all the shapes are designed to be made in one single piece mould, they release from the mould simply by twisting out like a screw thread.
